8 miles and turn right at the sign for Watervale Inn. Drive over a large hill and about one mile from the bottom of the hill (after passing a church and a cemetery on the left) you will come to Watervale Road. Drive several miles and turn left onto M-22 at the stop sign (a “T”). Just after the bank, turn right onto Grace Road. In Benzonia, you will see both a McDonalds and Honor State Bank on your right and Shop-N-Save grocery on your left. Just past the mall, turn left at the stoplight onto South M31 toward Interlochen. Follow this road 4-5 miles to US 31, you will pass a shopping mall with a Target and a Marshall Fields. Turn right at the stop light out of the airport onto South Airport Road. Drive straight to the water of Lower Herring Lake, turn left, park and head to the Inn for check-in and for directions to your cottage. Watervale Road will be on the left side of M-22 about six miles north of Arcadia. Follow M-22 through the towns of Onekama and Arcadia. (At Ludington, M-31 ends as a two lane divided highway and you exit right, but the name remains the same.) On the north side of Manistee, pass the intersection of M-31 and M-55 and pass the Manistee Airport (both on the right), turn left onto M-22 near the gaming casino on your left.
Follow M-31 north through Holland, Grand Haven, Muskegon and Ludington. Just past Benton Harbor, MI, turn north onto Michigan Highway 31 (also called I-196 in southern Michigan).
